    History of Post It Notes®

    Post-It® Notes were invented by the 3M Corporation in 1977 when Engineer Art Fry used a reusable, low tack adhesive to anchor his church bookmarks. Initially the Post-It® Notes product was a failure since consumers did not understand its uses. One year later 3M issued free Post-It® Notes samples to a test area in Boise, Idaho where it was a success. Nationwide sales followed in 1980. Today, there are more than 600 Post-it® Notes Products sold in more than 100 countries.
